Program Description

Through expert-led, evidence-based education, this activity will review current and emerging approaches across several key areas of ophthalmic care, including dry eye disease, ocular surface disease, cataract surgery, neurotrophic keratitis, and digitally assisted vitreoretinal surgery. Faculty will discuss the lacrimal functional unit, TRPM8 channels, neuromodulation-based therapies, artificial tear formulations, evaluation strategies, cataract imaging and surgical innovations, and emerging technologies for managing vitreoretinal complications.

Intended Audience

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and advanced practice providers (physician assistants and nurse practitioners) who manage patients with eye diseases.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the factors contributing to the lacrimal functional unit, TRPM8 channels, and neuromodulation-based therapies for dry eye disease.
  • Integrate information on evaluation, artificial tear formulations, and neuromodulation in managing ocular surface disease and neurotrophic keratitis.
  • Appraise the types of cataracts, preoperative and intraoperative imaging, and innovations in cataract surgery.
  • Integrate factors contributing to vitreoretinal complications, as well as emerging technologies and techniques in digitally assisted vitreoretinal surgery.
